Privacy and personal data

BeatStore stores a small set of visitor data on the producer site. This page lists what the plugin stores and how WordPress privacy tools work with it.

Free download form

When Mailchimp free download is on, the player form asks for a name and email. The visitor must tick a consent box before submit.

BeatStore then:

  1. Adds the contact to the connected Mailchimp audience.
  2. Emails a signed download link for the tagged preview MP3.
  3. Writes a beatstore_lead record under BeatStore → Free Downloaders.

Set a WordPress privacy policy page under Settings → Privacy. The free download form links to that page when the URL is set.

Play analytics

On each play, BeatStore can store:

  • A play count on the beat
  • A daily play total
  • A hashed visitor fingerprint (HMAC of IP and browser). The raw IP is not stored.
  • A country total for that day. The country comes from CDN headers or a local IPv4 range file. The IP is discarded after the lookup.

Hashed fingerprints do not map back to an email address. WordPress export and erase tools do not remove those rows by email.

Google Analytics play events

BeatStore → Settings → Send play events can send a play event to Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager. Optional Measurement ID loads the Google script when nothing else on the site loads it.

For visitors in the EU or UK, show a cookie consent banner before you enable that setting. BeatStore does not ship a front-end cookie banner for the producer site. Use a consent plugin or your theme.

Orders and licenses

Purchase data stays in Easy Digital Downloads or WooCommerce. BeatStore does not keep a second buyer database.

WordPress Tools → Export / Erase Personal Data

BeatStore registers an exporter and an eraser for free-download leads.

  1. Open Tools → Export Personal Data or Tools → Erase Personal Data.
  2. Enter the visitor email.
  3. WordPress includes BeatStore free-download rows that match that email.

Mailchimp contacts are separate. Remove them in Mailchimp when a visitor asks for deletion.

Suggested privacy policy text

WordPress shows suggested BeatStore text under Settings → Privacy after you activate the plugin. Copy the text into your privacy policy page.
