Templates and offer mapping
Priced license tiers stay in Easy Digital Downloads or WooCommerce. These rows are the legal PDF only. With the BeatStore Player, template name, default amount, and exclusive / non-exclusive type also feed Add all licenses / Add missing licenses.
Create a template
- Open BeatStore → Contracts (or Contracts if the player is off).
- Add a template. Starter exclusive and non-exclusive agreements are included.
- Set the name, default amount, exclusive or non-exclusive type, and usage fields (copies, streams, performances, videos, radio, publishing percentage).
- Edit the agreement as it should read on the PDF. Drag a placeholder chip into the text, or click it.
{CUSTOMER_FULLNAME}and{TRACK_PRICE}fill at purchase. Use Edit HTML only if you need the markup.
The default amount is the catalog price suggested for that tier (and what Update mapped prices can push onto already-mapped beats). {TRACK_PRICE} on the PDF is still the amount the buyer paid on that line, not this default.
Templates without a default amount stay out of Add all licenses so you do not seed $0 prices by accident. Disable a template to keep it out of the seed while leaving it available to map by hand.
Licenses table (Woo + player)
This is the path when both the player and Contracts are active on WooCommerce. The BeatStore Licenses table is name, price, exclusive, and which PDF that license gets. There is no Contract templates sidebar on this screen. The picker is the Contract column on the row.
- Set up templates (name, default amount, exclusive type) under BeatStore → Contracts.
- Open the product. In Licenses, click Add all licenses when the table is empty, or Add missing licenses if some rows already exist. Only templates that are not already listed (same template or same name) are added. Existing prices, variation ids, and maps stay put.
- Confirm the save. Woo variations do not exist until the product is saved, so the button writes the rows and saves in one step. A new product is saved as a draft (
Save draft), not published. An existing product uses Update. After reload you can attach buyer files on each variation. - Contract is the PDF for that row. None means the license still sells, with no PDF. Saving the product writes the maps. Change a dropdown later and save again if you need a different template.
- Full walkthrough, including files: Add New Music / Beats.
You can still add a single row with Add license, or duplicate a finished product, if you prefer not to seed from templates.
On Woo, that save also creates the License attribute and variations. There is no need to add License terms by hand, save attributes, or click Generate variations.
EDD Prices (player + Contracts)
On Easy Digital Downloads, licenses stay in EDD Prices. BeatStore does not replace that panel, so a non-beat download can still use a single price or its own variations.
- Set up templates under BeatStore → Contracts.
- Open the download. Check Create price variations, then click Add all licenses (or Add missing licenses). That adds an EDD variation per template that is not already listed (same template or same name).
- Each variation has Exclusive and Contract. Save the download, then attach a file per price in Files.
- There is no Contract templates sidebar on this screen when the player is active.
You can still click Add Variation by hand, or skip Add all licenses for a download that is not a licensed beat.
When the Contract templates sidebar shows
The Contract templates box on the right of the edit screen shows when BeatStore Contracts is active and the player is not driving mapping on the edit screen.
| Setup | Where you map |
|---|---|
| WooCommerce + BeatStore Player | Contract column on the Licenses table. Sidebar is hidden. |
| Easy Digital Downloads + BeatStore Player | Contract on each EDD price variation. Sidebar is hidden. |
| Easy Digital Downloads, player not installed | Contract templates sidebar, after you add Download Prices. |
| WooCommerce, player not installed | Contract templates sidebar, after you make the product variable and generate License variations. |
On EDD without the player: enable variable pricing. Each Download Price is one offer. Open the download, pick a template per price in the sidebar, save.
On Woo without the player: there is no Licenses table. Make the product variable, add the License attribute with your tier names, save attributes, then generate variations. The first licensed product creates the global License attribute; later products reuse those terms. Map PDFs in the sidebar.
If that sidebar says to add priced licenses on this beat first, the product has no offers yet. Add Download Prices (EDD without the player) or License variations (Woo without the player), then map. With the player on Woo, use Add all licenses in the BeatStore table. With the player on EDD, use Add all licenses in Prices.
Map it onto an offer
Each EDD variable price and each Woo License variation can point at one template. The map lives in {prefix}beatstore_contract_maps. Offer ids stay the EDD price_id or Woo variation id, so renaming a license does not break the PDF.
If no template is mapped, checkout still runs. No PDF is written for that line.
Switching the player from EDD to Woo does not copy maps. Reuse the same templates, then map them again on each Woo product.
Bulk and leftovers
Activation copies leftover Licenses & Contracts templates and maps. Old tables stay. Re-run that copy from the templates screen if a beat still shows no template.
On template save, or via Update mapped prices, Contracts can overwrite the catalog price on already-mapped offers from that template’s default amount. That does not create new license rows on beats that have none yet. Use Add all licenses or Add missing licenses for that.
