Is BeatStore a one-time purchase or a subscription?
Both options exist at Freemius checkout. Lifetime is $249 pay once. Annual is $79/year. Monthly is $9.99/month. All plans include email support and updates for the active term. If an annual or monthly term ends, the plugin keeps running on your site; renewing only extends support and updates. You can upgrade from monthly to annual or lifetime when Freemius offers that path.
Will my payment gateway work?
Any gateway that works with Easy Digital Downloads or WooCommerce works with BeatStore. PayPal and Stripe are the most common, including Apple Pay and Google Pay where your gateway supports them.
Are my beats stored on my own website?
Yes. Files live on your host (or an offload plugin like S3/Dropbox if you configure one). BeatStore is not a hosted marketplace.
Can I use SoundCloud for beat previews?
Yes. Paste a public track permalink and set Audio Preview to SoundCloud. Connect once under BeatStore → Integrations (Client ID + Client Secret). You’ll need a SoundCloud API app. Credentials are a WordPress option, not wp-config. See the SoundCloud audio previews docs.
Do uploaded previews stay at a public file URL?
Not if you turn on Protect uploaded previews. The player gets a temporary BeatStore link instead of a permanent path in /uploads. Copied links expire. SoundCloud and Dropbox are unchanged. A live link can still be saved, so use a tagged, lower-quality MP3 if you do not want the clean file in the player.
Can I offer a free download for email?
Yes. Connect Mailchimp under BeatStore → Integrations, then enable free download on all tracks or per beat. Listeners get a signed link to the tagged Media Library preview MP3. Paid license files stay in Easy Digital Downloads or WooCommerce.
Can I use it for client projects?
Yes. Use BeatStore plugins and themes for client sites. Just don’t redistribute them as a competing product.
Can I embed more than one player or playlist?
Yes. Create multiple playlists and embed them as separate players on different pages.
Is there a catalog API?
Yes. GET /wp-json/beatstore/v1/beats is a public REST catalog on your domain—the same payload the player uses. Cart and play writes use a WordPress REST nonce on that origin. There are no BeatStore API keys or webhooks; checkout stays Easy Digital Downloads or WooCommerce.
Can I sell merchandise or physical products?
Yes. The BeatStore player is for your audio catalog (beats and kits). Create merch as normal WooCommerce products or EDD downloads, sell them on shop/product pages, and check Hide from player in the BeatStore panel so they stay out of the player. WooCommerce is the better fit when you need shipping and stock. See the merchandise docs for EDD vs Woo steps.
Does this work with my theme?
The player is built to work with major WordPress themes. Your single product templates and the rest of your theme keep working.
Can I install this on Wix, Squarespace, or Shopify?
No. BeatStore is a WordPress plugin only.
